History of The Zoot Suit?

The Zoot Suit Riots were a string of riots in 1943 for the duration of World War II that erupted in Los Angeles, California involving white sailors and Marines stationed all over the city and Latino youths, that were familiar by the zoot suits and outfits they favored.

While Mexican Americans happen to be the primary targets of military servicemen, African American and Filipino/Filipino American youth may be also targeted.

The Zoot Suit Riots are in part the effect of the recognized Sleepy Lagoon murder which implicated the death of a young Latino man in a barrio close by Los Angeles.

The episode triggered similar attacks hostile to Latinos in Chicago, San Diego, Detroit, Evansville, Philadelphia, and New York

Gangster facts:

A gangster is a lawbreaker who is a member of a bunch of criminals. The word is mostly used to refer to members of criminal organizations related with Prohibition or with an American derivative of the Italian Mafia (such as the Chicago Outfit, the Philadelphia Mafia, and the likes of the Five Families).
